Favorite day biking!

(Ok peeps. I know how far behind we are in blogging. I have to go in order though so stay with me! I promise to gt caught up and we have amazing pics to share...=)

Day 4 of biking was my favorite. We rode almost 30 miles, all before lunch. We whizzed past all the hybrid riders since we had so much flat terrain and could go pretty fast on our road bikes. There were steady climbs but they weren’t too long or hard and there were a lot of flat stretches in between that didn’t make it a killer on the legs. We biked along a ridge where we had sweeping views of the countryside on both sides.

Who wouldn't want to bike all day with this scenery to look at?
I could totally get used to biking every day if this was the scenery!

There were some pretty steep, winding downhills too. Some of them as steep as 18% grade. I, of course, pump the brakes the whole way, afraid to let myself go too fast. Such a scaredy cat. It was a great ride and we ended up in another tiny village for lunch before driving to Assisi where we’d be the rest of the trip. What we liked most about this lunch was a dessert sampler plate we had with a little piece of every awesome Italian dessert for everyone. We demolished ours of course, knowing we had to take advantage while we could before we headed to Thailand!

We drove about an hour to Assisi from lunch. Our bike leader lives there (with his wife and 7 kids!) and he gave us a walking tour of the town after dinner at the hotel that night. It was a cool little walkable town. We toured inside the famous St. Francis Assisi Cathedral which is gorgeous on the inside and out.

Biking Tuscany.....ahh.
